About the Wintergreen Community Foundation

Now over 50 years old, the Wintergreen community is thriving. The active participation of thousands of thoughtful, caring, and respectful property owners has been the most powerful force in its success. The Wintergreen Community Foundation was created to work more effectively with those property owners who are seeking to build upon the community’s traditions and history in a significant way.

THE WINTERGREEN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION’S Vision

To enhance the attractiveness, livability, and value of the Wintergreen community.

THE WINTERGREEN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION’S Mission

Provide a means for Wintergreen property owners to support programs, services, and capital projects that would have a significant and lasting impact on the quality of life and future of the Wintergreen community.

THE WINTERGREEN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION’S Goals

WCF would be a vehicle that allows legacy opportunities to ensure funding to:
• Provide capital improvements for owner activities, amenities, and enjoyment.
• Secure, preserve, and protect Wintergreen’s natural resources and open spaces.
• Partner with existing and emerging organizations where WCF can help establish new quality of life and safety initiatives within our community.

THE WINTERGREEN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION’S Guiding Values

• Wintergreen’s uniqueness as a special community.
• Our natural surroundings and special living environment.
• Appreciation for the organizations and individuals that serve the community.
• The property owners’ value and loyalty to Wintergreen.

Organization and Placement in the Wintergreen Property Owners Association

Although an independent entity, due to its purpose, the Wintergreen Community Foundation is closely aligned with WPOA, much like the volunteer organizations of WPOA’s Fire and Rescue. WCF’s oversight is a board of directors that includes WPOA leadership such as the WPOA president, past presidents, WPOA’s executive director, and Wintergreen property owners. Because of this close alignment with the Wintergreen Property Owners Association, WCF utilizes WPOA facilities for meetings and other business purposes. Costs associated with operating WCF are paid by WCF.

What the Wintergreen Community Foundation is not:

• WCF is not in the business of funding memorial benches, or flower gardens, or other smaller activities that have limited overall benefit to the community.

• WCF is not an active donation-soliciting organization in competition with other community groups.

• WCF will not engage in projects that are not sustainable or place an undue burden on WPOA’s annual operational budget.
